Personalized
Vision Care
An eye exam isn’t just about updating your prescription. It’s a comprehensive check-up for your entire visual system.
Dr. Neal takes a holistic approach to your vision health. In a comprehensive eye exam, she will seek to understand your overall health as it relates to the health of your eyes. She will test your vision and eyelid and eye function, and screen you for early signs of eye diseases.
We hope to help you find a deeper understanding of your eye health and your vision. Whether you’re updating your prescription or seeking relief from dry eye disease, you can always count on us.
Why Do You Need an Eye Exam?
When was your last eye exam?
We recommend having yearly eye exams so we can address potential issues, like uncorrected refractive errors, dry eyes, or eye diseases, as early as possible.
However, we may recommend more frequent exams depending on your eye health and vision. Some eye problems, including glaucoma and diabetic eye disease, can develop without noticeable symptoms, but we can often detect these concerns during your eye health exam.
What to Expect From Your Exam
Your eye exam is personalized by Dr. Neal based on your vision, lifestyle, overall health, and any particular vision symptoms you’re experiencing. Your exam will typically include:
- A health history and medication review
- A conversation about your lifestyle as it relates to your eyes
- An exam to assess your visual acuity, measure any refractive error, assess eye function and eyelid function, and a dilated exam to check for early signs of eye disease
Once we complete the exam, we’ll provide you with our findings, recommendations, and prescriptions so you can enjoy your sight with comfort and clarity.
Advanced Dry Eye
Diagnosis & Management
Do your eyes feel gritty or sore and irritated?
Are your eyelids puffy, red, or crusty?
Is your vision sometimes blurry or sensitive to light?
Each of these symptoms can be traced back to meibomian gland dysfunction or blepharitis, also known as dry eye. As part of your dry eye exam, Dr. Neal can do a quick, noninvasive dry eye scan to learn key information about the health of your eyes.
If Dr. Neal detects dry eye, she may recommend a more thorough dry eye evaluation and explain how treatment may give you relief and comfort.
